Team FCA

Hello guys! To those of you who don't know, I'm in Alexandria, Minnesota this summer interning with FCA Hockey. To the people who donated, thank you so much for supporting me in this journey this summer! To the people who have no idea what I'm talking about, I'll fill you in coming up and tap here to donate.
So I've come into Minnesota May 20th to meet my billet family, and the guys who are interning along side with me. We set up our rooms and chat about our hockey and faith experiences and connected real quick.
This week, we started most of the days with an ice session that was great! We as a group then sat down and talked about our duty's here, learning the facilities and worked on our testimonies. As Thursday came around, our first camp, Team FCA started. I was the coach on Gold team. We went over the message of the summer in Matthew 28:18-21.

Then Jesus came to them and said,"All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely O am with you always, to the very end of the Age."

This last weekend was a great experience to be on the other side of the bench to be a leader and set the tone of the team. There were some bumps as the weekend went by but its a learning curve. I met some amazing kids this weekend from all over the World, heard testimonies that put more of a fire in my chest to keep Gods word moving. I even had my own brother, Mickey on my team which caused some brotherly love to be passed around. After all was set and done, I'm proud of what God has done through these boys, and continues to do in the time to come. I've learned to let God take control and speak through me, not to grip on to control and speak my words.
The 4 days I spent with these young men were fun and testy, but they had a great time staying up till 1 AM, but a bad time waking up at 6:30. They all have a strong love for hockey and I pray that God leads them into His purpose for them in the years to come. That's all i got so far, keep up as their are many more fun things to tell about my summer interning at FCA Hockey.

God Bless,
Ethan McKinley

A year without Hockey

My season and junior hockey career ended by falling short to the playoffs with the CT Chiefs on February 28th, 2020. I was injured (but still playing), touring multiple college campuses, texting and emailing with college coaches to get them to come see if what I had to offer was good for their program.  Energy, Speed, relentlessness, passion and loyalty. Injured or not, I was driven to get on a college team and take the next step in my life. Then as I was a phone call away from commiting to a college, that's when the world literally started shutting down. 14 days to flatten the curve.  The hockey world, while I was at a rink watching pro sports, shut down right before my own eyes. People preluding to wearing masks even before the mandatory mask mandates and breaking news that weekend of a national shutdown across the U.S. I was heartbroken, stressed and feared what would happen next for everyone in everyday life and hockey.  The only thing that kept me sane an...

Better Late than Never

Hello all, posting in 2021 after an amazing summer in Alexandria, MN. Between the morning skates, devotions, 'the program' and camps; we had our hands full but also our hearts to keep pressing on and serving our summers for the mission to spread the gospel of Jesus to ice hockey players. It was a fast sprint during our camps between a 2 1/2 week timespan from youth to professional athletes. We had many testimonies, rededications and salvations this summer, it was overwhelming but amazing to see God's plans unfold. Gods hand was over everything and we were able to stay healthy and have a great impact this last summer. I ended up helping Northstar Sportsplex becoming a go-to Zamboni driver and in charge of ice maintenance along with my normal duties; coaching, helping with devotions, cleaning and inventory of everything. I really was going to miss Northstar however I had to leave to start my freshmen year at Anna Maria College in Paxton, MA.      One of the mai...

Don't be scared to take a hit

Sorry guys for not posting in a while, its been a crazy couple of weeks. Lets start with a story from the bible- Jonah    Jonah back in the day was a modern day prophet at his time in his 'mission trip' to assure people about the living God, his word, and his promises. He was a clever man and seemed to be fearless for God was on his side... Jonah 1 1-3 NLT "The lord gave this message to Jonah son of Amittai: “Get up and go to the great city of Nineveh. Announce my judgment against it because I have seen how wicked its people are.” But Jonah got up and went in the opposite direction to get away from the lord . He went down to the port of Joppa, where he found a ship leaving for Tarshish. He bought a ticket and went on board, hoping to escape from the lord by sailing to Tarshish."        So a man strong in his faith with God ran away... Isn't that ironic that sometimes when the odds are against us and we are destined to do the imp...
